Do you have problems with double accounts? Do you want to efficiently prevent your users from having two or more user accounts in your community? Then the Multihunter is exactly what you are looking for!
The Multihunter automatically checks 7 check routines to see if a user is a potential double account. One check alone provides good protection, but the combination of these makes the Multihunter a unique tool for finding double accounts.
Registration check
As soon as a new user registers in their community, the wcf stores the IP address of the user. The multihunter now compares whether the IP address of the new member has already been registered in the database.
The IP exam
The IP check checks every time you log in whether the IP you are using has already been used by another user. By default, this check is limited to the last 24 hours, because a new IP address is generated after a new user connects to the Internet.
The Cookie Checker
I.d.R every user on the Internet gets a new IP address every 24 hours. This means that a simple IP check would not be able to find a potential double account. For this reason there is the Cookie check, which checks with each login whether the browser has already logged in from a user account.
The Super Cookie/Flash Cookie Check
Similar to the "cookie check", the "super cookie check" stores a cookie on the user's PC to find a double account. The difference to the normal "cookie check" is that this check works across browsers (e.g. IE to Firefox). The only exception at this point is the Google Chrome browser, since it comes with its own Flash Player. Note: Flash is automatically executed natively on a small number of browsers and will disappear into the Internet's history books by the end of 2020.
The Local Storage Check
The LocalStorage check will ultimately set another cookie for the user. Here only no PHP, but HTML5 is used. This innovation of HTML5 almost inevitably resulted in the fifth check routine of the Multihunter.
The Indexed DB Check
In addition to LocalStorages, HTML5 also provided the so-called IndexedDB to store data with the user. The whole thing is actually intended for large amounts of data, but for the sense and purpose of the multihunter this technique is optimal. Thus the seventh check of the multihunter was created to make it even more difficult for double accounts.
The Canvas Examination
Canvas fingerprinting is seen as a "non-erasable cookie successor". Canvas Fingerprinting takes advantage of the effect that the display of text on canvas elements varies depending on the operating system, browser, graphics card, graphics driver, and installed fonts. To create a specific fingerprint for the page visitor at the time the page is viewed, a hidden text is passed to the browser for display. This fingerprint is always the same unless the operating system, browser, graphics card, etc. is changed. This method makes it possible to determine with relatively high accuracy whether the user is the same or not.
advantage: In contrast to all other checks, the database (e.g. cookies) cannot be deleted.
disadvantage: It is possible that there are users with the same operating system, browser, video card, video driver and installed fonts. Depending on the size of the community, this probability increases. However, it is assumed that this topic is about 90% accurate. A closer look does not harm as always.
The unique "User String"
In version 1 of the multihunter, only the user ID was stored in the cookie. Thus there were many a bad guy who falsified this entry and blamed the double account on another user. In version 2 of the Multihunter, this problem no longer exists. Each user receives a unique "user string", which is stored in the respective cookie or super cookie. This makes it almost impossible to blame an innocent user for a double account!
The powerful search
True to the motto that almost every browser is identifiable, the Multihunter offers a comprehensive possibility to search the collected data sets. You want to know who is surfing in your community with a Windows 8 operating system in Firefox version 15.3 and who has installed the Norwegian language? Find this user again, even if he has deleted a new IP address and his cookies!
Unknown data were yesterday
So far, if the multihunter has stored a user with unknown data, these were reported as unknown in the log entry until the end of the time. Through a new update routine, unknown records are automatically updated to the current state.
The Whitelist
Not every user has bad ulterior motives. Therefore the multihunter gives you the possibility to whitelist user pairs (these user pairs are only allowed in these accounts) or to specify users who are allowed in each account. In addition, there is the possibility to define users who are allowed into each account, to define individual IP addresses and IP ranges that are not checked, as well as a provider whitelist that is also not alerted. You want to inform your users about the inclusion in the Whitelust? No problem, because the multihunter also provides you with an option for this.
Automatic Lockout
You trust the multihunter through and through? Have every find blocked immediately. If you don't trust one of the four multi-tests, switch off the corresponding test for the car lock. Give them a time limit until which they are automatically blocked. messages from Trashmails/disposable addresses
A separate database is used to recognize trash mails in order to give them a further indication as to whether a user is a double account. Through a simple but very efficient API every administrator can make sure that the list grows fast. "Share what you have" is the motto here. You enter something, the data will be sent to me via e-mail (can be deactivated via ACP) and I can make your knowledge available to other administrators.
However, I would like to say most emphatically that trash mails also have their right to exist in the age of spam!

The plugin will not be able to tell if an avoidable double account is one person or really 2 different people. At this point you are still asked as administrator. The Multihunter will always be just a tool that gives you tips where you should take a closer look. Also keep in mind at all times that any user can overcome any technical hurdle.
However, here the crucial question arises: Who has more stamina? A person who has to eliminate every trace with every login or a multihunter?

Schritt 1: Wartungsmodus aktivieren
Der Wartungsmodus schaltet das Forum sowie alle damit zusammenhängenden Funktionen (u.a. Cronjobs) temporär ab um die Konsistenz der Daten zu gewährleisten. Jeder kurzfristige Ausfall des Forums ist unangenehm, dennoch sollten Sie diesen Schritt begehen um ein reibungsloses Upgrade zu gewährleisten, andernfalls nehmen Sie das Risiko von Inkonsistenzen bis hin zu Fehlern während des Upgrade-Vorgangs in Kauf.
Schritt 2: Sicherung der Daten anfertigen
Sie sollten vor jedem Update eine vollständige Sicherung der Daten des Forums durchführen und insbesondere bei einem Upgrade. Dieser Vorgang ist weitaus komplexer und zu dem auch vollständig irrevesibel, ein Fehler während des Upgrade-Vorganges kann Ihr Forum irreparabel beschädigen und somit unbrauchbar machen. Mit einer aktuellen Datensicherung können Sie das Forum in kürzester Zeit wieder auf den Zustand vor dem Upgrade zurücksetzen und den Vorgang ggf. wiederholen.
Eine vollständige Sicherung besteht aus zwei Komponenten:
- Vollständige Sicherung der Datenbank

Erstellen Sie eine Sicherung aller Dateien die zum Forum gehören, inklusive der durch Benutzer erzeugten Daten, beispielsweise Dateianhänge
Vermeiden Sie die Nutzung von unterschiedlich alten Sicherungen von Datenbank und Dateien, inkonsistente Sicherungen führen zu Problemen und können Ihr Forum beschädigen.
Schritt 3: (Optional) Laufzeitbegrenzungen anpassen
Im Laufe des Upgrade-Prozesses werden diverse Änderungen an wichtigen Datenbank-Tabellen vorgenommen, allen voran Tabellen in denen Nachrichten-Texte vorgehalten werden, etwa Beiträge oder Konversationen. Abhängig von der Größe Ihres Forums kann dieser Vorgang relativ lange dauern und ein Timeout (Zeitüberschreitung) würde diesen Prozess unterbrechen und die Installation irreparabel beschädigen. Bitte passen Sie nach Möglichkeit die Begrenzungen entsprechend Ihrer Website an.
Schritt 4: Update auf die aktuellste Version
Bitte führen Sie vorab ein vollständiges Update durch, rufen Sie dazu ACP > System > Pakete > Pakete auflisten auf und klicken Sie auf den Button Updates suchen und lassen Sie alle verfügbaren Updates installieren.
Schritt 5: Neue Update-Server hinzufügen
- Rufen Sie ACP > System > Pakete > Update-Server auflisten auf
- Klicken Sie auf den Button Server hinzufügen
- Fügen Sie http://update.woltlab.com/2019/ in das Feld Adresse ein und lassen Sie alle anderen Felder leer
- Klicken Sie auf den Button Absenden um den Server hinzuzufügen
- Fügen Sie http://store.woltlab.com/2019/ in das Feld Adresse ein und lassen Sie alle anderen Felder leer
- Klicken Sie auf den Button Absenden um den Server hinzuzufügen
Schritt 6: Upgrade durchführen
Rufen Sie bitte ACP > System > Pakete > Pakete auflisten auf und klicken Sie auf den Button Updates suchen. Im folgenden sollten Sie auf eine neue Seite weitergeleitet werden, auf der Ihnen WoltLab Suite 3 und ggf. andere Pakete zum Update angeboten werden.
Schritt 7: Alle Anzeigen aktualisieren

Step 1: Enable maintenance mode
The maintenance mode disables the forums and most other features (including cronjobs) to preserve data consistency. We understand that putting a live forum into maintenance mode is unpleasant, but failing to do so will most likely cause data inconsistency and might even cause the upgrade to fail.
Step 2: Create a backup
You should always create a backup before applying any updates, but upgrading is a much more complicated and irreversible process. If for any reason the process fails before completion, your installation is most likely irreparably damaged and cannot be recovered, except for restoring it from a backup.
A full backup consists of two parts:
- Full database dump
We recommend using mysqldump (if you have access to the command line) or the free Please login to see this link.. - Full copy of the forum files
Create a copy of all files belonging to the software and its components, including all user-generated data, e.g. attachments
Avoid mixing database dumps with file copies originating from a different point of time, it will most likely not work or cause serve damage to your forums.
Step 3: (Optional) Increase PHP and/or database timeouts if possible
The upgrade process will make changes to some key tables, including the user table and message-related tables, e.g. for posts or conversation messages. Depending on the size of your forum, this can take quite some time to complete and running into a timeout will break the entire upgrade. Please make temporary adjustments to these timeouts at your own discretion.
Step 4: Update your Installation
Please run a full update through ACP > System > Packages > List Packages and click on the button Search for Updates. You must run the latest versions in order to perform an upgrade, earlier versions are not supported.
Step 5: Add the update servers
- Navigate to ACP > System > Packages > List Update Servers
- Click on the button Add Server
- Insert http://update.woltlab.com/2019/ into the field Address and leave all other fields empty
- Click the Submit button to add the new Server
- Insert http://store.woltlab.com/2019/ into the field Address and leave all other fields empty
- Click the Submit button to add the new Server
Step 6: Perform the update
Please navigate to ACP > System > Packages > List Packages and click on the button Search for Updates. The system should redirect you to a new page offering WoltLab Suite 3 and maybe other products.
Step 7: Rebuild all data
Some changes require you to rebuild data, it is recommended to run all steps listed in ACP > Management > Rebuild Data once the update has completed.

- Laden Sie die Dateien install.php, test.php und WCFSetup.tar.gz auf Ihren Webserver hoch.
- Starten Sie die Installation, indem Sie die Datei test.php in Ihrem Webbrowser aufrufen.
Aktualisierung von früheren Versionen
Ein Upgrade wird von der WoltLab Suite 3.1.11 oder neuer unterstützt, für die Durchführung muss der Paket-Server http://update.woltlab.com/2019/ hinzugefügt werden. Ein Update von WoltLab Suite 5.2 RC 2 auf zukünftige Versionen wird garantiert. Die Nutzungsdauer der Betaversion ist auf den 06. Feburar 2020 begrenzt, danach ist eine weitere Nutzung nur mit einer gültigen Lizenz gestattet.
Fragen und Anregungen zu der neuen Version können direkt hier im Forum hinterlassen werden; Im Falle von Probleme oder Unstimmigkeiten bitten wir um eine kurze Rückmeldung im entsprechenden Bereich, damit wir uns dessen annehmen können.
Anpassung der Versionsnummern
Die Forum App nutzte aus historischen Gründen eine höhere Versionsnummer, wodurch es zu einigen Unklarheiten kam. Ab dieser Version laufen alle Produkte unter der einheitlichen Versionsnummer 5.2.

System Requirements
WoltLab Suite 5.2 requires the following prerequisites to install and run the software:

Installation Guide
- Download the installation archive onto your computer.
- Extract the archive.
- Upload the files install.php, test.php and WCFSetup.tar.gz onto your webserver.
- Start the installation by navigating with your webbrowser to the test.php.
Updating from earlier versions
Upgrading is supported for WoltLab Suite 3.1.11 or newer, the responsible update server http://update.woltlab.com/2019/ needs to be added to the list of update servers. Please keep in mind that we do not gurantee the stability of the upgrade, under no circumstances should you upgrade your installation without creating a full backup before. Upgrade at your own risk!
Usage and Support
This evaluation version is not suitable for use in production environments, doing so is entirely at your own risk. An update from WoltLab Suite 5.2 RC 2 to future versions is guaranteed. You may use the apps until February 6th, 2020, if you would like to continue using this software past this date, you'll have obtain a valid product license.
